Try every component on Android
Open the Android playground directory in Android Studio, let Gradle sync, select an emulator or connected device, and press Run. The command-line build writes a directly installable debug APK under the app build directory.
Real package, real runtime
The gallery uses the local Lumen package, so component behavior and tokens match the code in this repository.
Take the Lumen Playground with you
Download Lumen Playground for Android phones and tablets. Explore the native Jetpack Compose component gallery offline, with no account required.
From playground to your app
Try it. Read the source. Build with Lumen.
Search for a component, try its interactive states, and compare light and dark themes. Use the open-source app to see how Lumen components fit together, then follow the component reference to bring them into your own project.
Store releases and the repository can show different versions. Follow the local setup below to explore the workspace version; check the app’s release notes when comparing a store build.

You can run the gallery locally before configuring any store account.
- Debug APKs can be installed directly and do not require Play Console credentials.
- Google Play distribution requires a signed Android App Bundle and a Play Console application.
- Configure the release keystore outside source control before creating the production bundle.
